 The Maxwell family began shipping horses in 1963 after buying a fleet of three small vans and one wooden six-horse van from Mr. Sallee, who purchased fuel from the family's Wolf Run service station on Versailles Road outside of Lexington, KY.
The company has grown over the years with a strong family approach which is carried through today. The family's oversight of both operational and service details has provided over forty years of excellent customer service. In April 2006, Nicole Pieratt, grand-daughter of Mrs. Arminda Maxwell and Perry Bozarth long-time employee purchased the company from the Maxwell's. Our long-time commitment and dedication to our team and customers will be the driving force to continue to strive for the excellence and safety that Sallee is built upon. It is our promise to take the best possible care of customers and their horses. The Sallee organization strives to maximize service and excellence by providing good horsemen, dedicated employees devoted to customer service, along with having reliable and modern equipment. The company has shown an average of over 40% growth of trucks, employees, and miles driven each decade. This shows our commitment to our clients and the industry. TEAM EFFORTS Currently, Sallee Horse Vans operates a fleet of trucks with the most state of the art equipment, and technology. For many years, Sallee has been known as the safest way to travel. Sallee is one of the largest transportation companies in the world. We operate throughout the United States and Canada. Our team has the advantage that we have a great number of horsemen/drivers that have been with us for over 20 years. This offers our customers continuity and continued customer service. With Sallee Horse Vans, you can count on safety and reliability when shipping everything from your child's pony to the Kentucky Derby winner! OUR HEADQUARTER'S SHOP & EQUIPMENT  Sallee has a Trailer and Maintenance Department that services the trucks and continually updates, builds, and rebuilds our trailers. Each of our trailers are built from scratch by our trailer design team. This team provides continuity of safety for over 40 years.
